The Berthold School District was organized in June of 1902. For a short time school was held in the train depot, before the one room school was built on the site of the old school. School opened on Oct. 15th, 1902 with W.I. Meyers as the first teacher. In 1905 a four-room brick school was built and in 1910 four more rooms were added to the upper story. In 1926 the gymnasium was added and was the best of its kind at the time. After 50 years of service, a new school was built in 1963.
